GISBORNE BMX riders and supporters will this weekend mark the official 30th birthday of their club.
They are celebrating with a national qualifying meeting at their track on Saturday, and afterwards will gather at the Jolly Stockman Hotel to share memories.
Organisers are hoping that as many past as present club members turn up to celebrate the milestone.
“The club was established around 1981-82 but the official constitution was signed in 1985, so we thought, ‘Let’s celebrate’,” club stalwart Caroline Fox said.
She encouraged people to bring their BMX club memorabilia to the gathering at the Jolly Stockman Hotel.
“We would love to share photos and stories,” she said.
The BMX meeting starts at the club track in Lytton Road at 1pm, and the celebrations at the Jolly Stockman start at 6pm.
Those intending to be at the evening celebrations are asked to confirm their attendance by email to d.foxy@xtra.co.nz
