It’s 4.45am. My alarm will go off in half an hour!
The first of our two days of racing is here and I’m excited.
The team is well prepared having trained on the Lake Macquarie track since Wednesday. After light rain over night on Thursday the weather had changed to what we have become use to – warm and sunny.
The track is in great condition, dry and ready for racing! No tar on the berms, a novelty these days!
Last night was the Mighty 11s dinner and the restaurant was taken over by Kiwis! Our team captains Finn Currie and Jenna Hastings made awesome jobs of their speeches. They did themselves proud.
The team received their race shirts, number plates and exchanged gifts with the Aussie team. The dinner was delicious!
The Aussies have been blown away by the size of the whole NZ contingent. There are 32 NZ riders, including the Mightys, registered to race. What a fantastic effort! We appreciate their support and look forward to having the extra cheering.
Thanks to everyone who has sent through messages of support from back home its great to know you are following us!
Will update later today. In the meantime, bring it on!
Go the Kiwis!
