The end of the season was a busy one with an early Nationals, yet everything seemed to come together.
The 2016 Nationals followed the 2015 format & while it ran well, the small attendance by people left the atmosphere lacking in substance.
So BMXNZ have taken this on board & have worked towards a solution to manage this, time will tell at the next event in Te Awamutu to see if it works. As usual at any Nationals, furious racing went down & NZ1s were awarded. Every riders level was set, to do either better next time or to step further ahead to keep a title, so well done to all those who did their best.
The Kiwi Worlds team went over to Colombia in May, it was a smaller yet more focused group. As communicated earlier, the results were fantastic! The South American location was awesome, it posed some challenges for everyone, but the event generally ran smooth. Congratulations to all those who achieved their goals.
Within my role, the structure of sport development has been worked on & at the AGM many segments were detailed to the clubs. A review of the athlete pathways & strategic plan were also presented, plus an engaging presentation with CNZ went down well with the club representatives. Also from the AGM a new season calendar has been confirmed & I am starting to prepare the detail in the background for it. You can see the full version on the CNZ & BMX.net.nz websites.
I hope you are all have a good off season to refresh everything & we will see you soon around mid-September.
Cheers
Dion / BMXNZ EO
