2021 BMXNZ NQM Update

2021 BMXNZ NQM Update

As we move through the COVID alert level restrictions & look towards moving into the new COVID protection framework, BMXNZ continues to review our practices to do the best for the sport as we work through significant changes nationwide over the next few weeks.

Reviewing the NQM requirements for the 2022 Nationals, the existing proposals will remain.

o All licenced riders in the seven Northern Region Clubs – require ONE NQM
o All other licenced riders within the sport – require TWO NQMs

All other requirements regarding NQMs are to be met as per the BMXNZ regulations.

Considering both Northern & Waikato Regions have been affected by lockdowns for most of the season so far, which has resulted in cancelled or postponed events. BMXNZ will be adding two additional NQM’s in December 2021 to ensure riders can fairly obtain NQMs that they may have missed due to the lockdowns. Additionally, the chance to participate in racing will be a welcome change for most.

Additional NQM Meets:

East City Meet 12th December 2021
Hamilton Twilight Meet 18th December 2021

Please be aware that the Auckland border will open on the 15th of December and will require a COVID Cert or have a negative COVID test 72hrs prior.

A subject to be confirmed, but events after the 1st of December may need to be run to the COVID Cert requirements if they are passed into law. This is hopefully to be confirmed either way late next week. If this is put into place for sport events, your choice of getting a COVID vaccine will allow us all to race together again sooner.
