The Youth Development Squad trials were held in perfect conditions at the Central Regional Champs in Taupo on Sunday 9th December 2018 and saw some exciting and close competitive racing.
The trials were to select four girls and four boys from the UCI 13 and UCI 14 age groups to make up the newly established annual Youth Development Squad.
The Youth Development Squad represent an opportunity to take in more knowledge & experience from passionate coaches & then travel away as a squad to Australia without parents & family to ride as an independent athlete.
This is intended as a first step in preparing our younger riders to ride internationally at more senior levels by providing life experiences in travelling and competing independently.
BMXNZ would like to congratulate all the riders who trialed.
The following riders were successful to gain a spot on the squad & BMXNZ hope they gain strength & independence as a small group of likeminded racers.
